There are only several countries capable to develop Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV) so far. Those are USA, Russia, China, India, and Japan. In order to achieve national independency on space technology, Indonesia, by means of LAPAN, is now capable to develop rockets even though those are still experiment. Nowadays, LAPAN plans to launch satellite using its own SLV. The SLV consists four stages of rocket, these are three stages of RX-420 and one stage of RX-320. According to the design, RX-420 will be the booster of the SLV. Built by the hands of Indonesian engineers, this SLV is certainly to become the pride of the nation.
LAPAN-TUBSat is Indonesia's first micro satellite with earth surveillance mission. This national masterpice was launched by the Indian rocket and has been orbiting since January 10, 2007 ath the height of 630 km from the earth surface. The satellite is controlled from LAPAN's ground stations (at Rumpin, Rancabungur, and Biak).
LAPAN-TUBSat carries video device and has store and forward capabilities. Store and forward capabilities mean communication among orbiting satellites through UHF frequency for data exchanging and information of remote areas in Indonesia.
