About Scout
Before named "Praja Muda Karana" (PRAMUKA), this activity is known as Kepanduan (Scouting). World Scout Movement was found on 1907 by retired English Army, Robert Baden Powell. Main characteristic is non-formal and outdoor activities. It is aim to physical training; mental and spiritual also push them to have a positive activity, which is good to the community. Scout organization has already spread entire world. Today there are more than 38 million scout member spread in 217 countries and territories.
In fatherland, Sri Sultan Hamengkibuwono IX is known as Father of Indonesian Scout. Organization structure in Indonesian scout is starts at school names as Gugus Depan/Front Group (Gudep) until the top of organization national named Kwartir Nasional /National Kwartir (Kwarnas). The scout logo is coconut bud as a symbol that all part of the plant has its benefit. So it could give inspiration to the member, in order to give more benefit for themselves and the environment. Scout Day is celebrated every 14 August.
About National Jamboree 2006
National Jamboree is an educational place in open nature in shape of large camping Pramuka Penggalang. It organized in 2001 in baturaden, Purwokerto, and central Java. Jamnas is held every 5 year as an activity of solidarity for making friend and peace. National Jamboree 2006 will be held at Camping Ground Kiarapayung Jatinangor, Sumedang, West Java on 16 until 23 July 2006. These activities join by choice member of Pramuka Penggalang representative from every Kwartir Cabang/Branch Kwartir (Kwarcab), Scout Movement whole Indonesia that every Kwarcab could send 40 members. Jamnas 2006 also follow by deputy Gudep RI abroad and delegation from Scout Organization from entire world.
The aim to build and to expand an attitude the o God devout, firm, stand alone, care and responsibility increase nation insight also relationship and unity. The theme of the event is "One heart, one promise, one earth", motto:"My spirit is my duty, my duty is my devotion" slogan: "healthy, smart, spirit, friendship, save and strong will, patriot of nature conservation, culture, Pancasila (five basic principles of the Republic of Indonesia) and Unitary State Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
Jamnas 2006 logo is harmony form of coconut bud, Kujang, collaboration hands, mountain nature and year event of event, which is, describe a blossom flower bud. It means National Jamboree as a place to learn and build a better and useful generation.
Jamnas 2006 mascot is "Anaking" which taken from Sundanese language, means lovelly son. Anaking describe as villager son who have high spirit to join Scout Activities even though he doesn't have appropriate uniform. this mascot is a smaller tiger Lodaya which is protect as an endanger animal and live in West Java forest. The Lodaya tiger is mach with a legend of Siliwangi tiger, which represent characteristic of west java people.
