In 1930, Natsir completed his education in Algemeene Middelbare School (AMS) majoring in classical Western literature in Bandung. His desire to deepen knowledge about religion caused him refusing scholarship at the Hogeschool Recht. Starting from the activities in Jong Islamiten Bond (JIB), Natsir eventually lead Masyumi Party from 1948 to 1959. The peak of Natsir political career occurred when he was appointed as Prime Minister of Republic of Indonesia at the time of returning to unitary state form. In the New Order era, Natsir helped in the process of restoring diplomatic relations with Malaysia, Japan, and several countries in the middle the Middle East. Sutomo Playing important role in struggle to defend the Republic of Indonesia, Sutomo (1920-1981) was better known as Bung Tomo. Young Sutomo has actively involved in several youth nasionalist organization since studying at HBS. Because of his accomplishments in journalism, Sutomo was appointed as chief editor of Domei news agency during the Japanese occupation. Although banned by the Japanese, due to his efforts too, the text of proclamation of independence August 17, 1945 was contained in the Asia Raya Daily on the next day. In the battle against British troops in November 1945, Bung Tomo burned the spirit of Surabaya people through his speech at the Rebellion Radio. Sutomo struggle continued in politics after the era of Independence war. In the 1955 election, he was elected as a parliament member through Rakyat Indonesia Party, which he founded.
