ASEAN JOINT STAMP ISSUE  2007

Southeast  Asian philatelic world enter a remarkable era in 2007. Coinciding with commemoration of the 40th Anniversary of Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 8 August 2007, all ten ASEAN member countries are making history by issuing stamp series at the same time. The "ASEAN Joint Stamp Issue" series features noteworthy and exquisite buildings representing of each member countries. The buildings with its particular architecture reflect historical as well as cultural heritage of each nations. These buildings are:

The Secreatariat Building of Brunei Darussalam  

Built in 1952 and completed in 1953, this beautiful and modern building is State Secretariat's Office of Negara Brunei Darussalam that house other government offices.

The National Museum of Cambodia 

Also known as Musee du Cambodge in 1919, this building perhaps better described as an enlarged Cambodian temple prototype seen on ancient bas-reliefs and reinterpreted to meet museum-size requirements.

The Museum Fatahillah of Indonesia

Located at a historical site of old Jakarta, this building was built in 1707 and completed in 1710. Officially named as Jakarta History Museum, now it is functioned to preserve the historical facts of the development of Jakarta city.

The Typical House of Lao

The typical Lao House usually is made of wood with a corrugated tin roof. The house is built up on piles to protect against mud and floods in rainy season for Lao villages often sited near rivers and streams.

Malayan Railway Headquarter Building

With vast Gothic and circular arches numbering in the hundreds, magnificent domes and entwining columns, the building is a perfect example of magnificent 14th century Greek architecture. Today, it remains a Malaysian pride.

Yangon Post Office of Myanmar

The Yangon Post Office is one of the largest post offices in Myanmar. Established in 1908, the building is constructed on 125 feet by feet area as Victoria Aged design made of brick.

Malacanang Palace of Philipines

Originally a grandee's summer home on the banks of the Pasig River, Malacanang Palace became the residence of the Spanish governor-general in 1863. Now, this building is the official residence of the President of Philippines.

National Museum of Singapore

Relocated to its permanent site at Stamford Road at the Museum Planning Area in 1887, now, this museum focused its collection to nation-building and the history of Singapore.

Vimanmek Mansion of Thailand

This is the world's largest golden teakwood mansion with its elaborate architectural style reflecting European Victorian influence. Built in 1990, the building was previously residence of royal family before moved back to the Grand Palace in 1906.

The Presidential Palace of Viet Nam 

Stand nearby Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum, the Presidential Palace remains part of Hanoi's cultural core. Built between 1900 and 1906, today, the palace serves to host government meetings.

These objects are featured in ten stamps printed in single sheet and done by all ASEAN member countries. Especially, Museum Fatahillah stamp from Indonesia is also printed in different denomination and sheet.
