The date July 12 has been declared as indonesian Cooperatives Day. To commemorate its golden anniversary, the Directorate General of Post and Telecommunication issues a stamp series consisting of five designs: two with Rp 150 denomination, two rp 300 denomination, and one Rp 700 value.

Fifty years ago, Indonesian cooperatives soviety created a history by conducting the first Cooperatives Congress in Tasikmalaya, West Java. The declaration of the date as Cooperatives Day reflected  a strong spirit to build people's economy based on the Constitutional of 1945.

The commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the cooperatives movement this year is marked by the inauguration of the Cooperatives Monument in Jakarta. The Monument is the symbol of the movement's dedication to nation. The Rp 150 stamps feature this monument and the other monument in Tasikmalaya.

Two Rp 300 value show the national business partnership program among cooperatives, small enterprises, and the large enterprises (Tycoons). The partnership among the three is a government strategy to develop small-scale businesses and strengthen business' position. The series also shows entrepreneurship as cooperatives' preparation towards globalization era and free-trade competition.

The set is completed by Rp 700 stamp featuring Dr. Mohammad Hatta and President Soeharto. Hatta, the co-proclamator of independence and first vice president, is the Father of Indonesian Cooperatives Movement. He has succeeded in giving meaning to the national movement and filling the independence by laying the foundation of Indonesia's cooperatives movement to develop people's economy. On the other hand, Soeharto, as the national leader, followed up the development with ecomomic concept based on the strength of cooperatives. He has been promoting cooperatives since 1950, when he was still active in the army. The rp 700 stamp is printed in pentagon shape (the first in Indonesian stamp history).
