Indonesia Scout Movement is a national organization which provide scouting education as part of national education in Indonesia. This movement aims to foster youth in achieving all its potential, including spiritual, social, intellectual and physical.As a name of the movement, Pramuka is an abbreviation of "Praja Muda Karana" which mean "Youth People whi Like Working".

Started in 1923, history of scouting in Indonesia was marked by the establishment Padvinderij Nationale Organisatie (NPO) in Bandung. In the same year, Jong Indonesiche Padvinderij Organisatie (JIPO) was established in Jakarta. Later, this two scouting organization embryos was merged inti Indonesische Padvinderij Nationale Organisatie (INPO) in Bandung in 1926. At the time of Japanese occupation, scouting is prohibited in Indonesia. many scouting enthusiasts joined organization formed by Japanese military government, such as Keibondan, Seinendan and PETA.

After the proclamation of independence, Pandu Rakyat Indonesia was formed in Solo as the only national scouting organization on December 28, 1945. But in its development, scouting organizations in Indonesia fragmented in hundreds and gathered into three federations, namely Ikatan Pandu Indonesia (IPINDO), Persatuan Pandu Puteri Indonesia (POPPINDO) and Persatuan Kepanduan Puteri Indonesia (PKPI). Finally Presidential Decree Number 238 concerning Gerakan Pramuka as the sole organization allowed to provide scouting education in Indonesia.
