40 Years Garuda Indonesia 1989
The history of the Indonesiaan civil aviation started from 26 January 1949, when a DC-3 Dakota aircraft named Seulawah with registration number RI-001 made a flight from Calcutta to Rangoon. The occasion officially marked the establishment of Indonesian airways, the Garuda Indonesian Airways which later becomes Garuda Indonesia.
Garuda Indonesia is the national flag carrier of Indonesia. In Its 40th anniversary it has 73 jet aircrafts which linked 35 cities in Indonesiaand 28 major cities abroad.
To commemorate the 40 years of this national flag carrier, the Directorate General of post and Telecommunications issues a set of commemorative stamp.
